Expanding the Arc is a first-year composition guide to analytical thinking and argument. It builds up a foundation of critical thinking, critical reading, and logic before building to discussions of the nature of analysis in various genres, including: written and visual arguments, fiction, poetry, and drama. In addition to instructing students in writing arguments, the text also provides examples of a wide range of arguments from popular, public writing across several contemporary subject areas.
